Montell Du'Sean Jordan (born December 3, 1968 in Los Angeles, California) is an American R&B singer, songwriter, and record producer. Jordan was the first R&B artist signed to the Def Jam label, and became the main male artist on its Def Soul imprint until leaving the label in 2003.

Exploding onto the scene in 1995 with his debut album This Is How We Do It and the eponymous smash hit single, Montell Jordan went on to tour with some of the biggest names in the industry: Boyz II Men, TLC and Mary J. Blige, among others. The next year, he released More with the smooth and sexy "I Like." Incidentally, this track was also on the Nutty Professor soundtrack, arguably one of the better R&B soundtracks in recent years. A couple of years later, Montell struck again with Let's Ride, with appearances by Redman and Master P.

The singer, songwriter and producer has influenced many and was influenced himself by legends such as Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson and Curtis Mayfield. While Montell sets his sights on recapturing the industry with his new album in February 2002, we sat down with the nearly 7-foot tall man and asked him some questions about his wilder days, the roller coaster ride he has been on and whom he thinks would make a better president between Dr. Dre and Chuck D.
